Circa: Nairobi, April 2024

My journey started on Medium in September 2018 by the inspiration of a former friend and colleague who has now gone on to become a big shot tech journalist. I wanted to write news stories as a citizen journalist and perhaps eventually become an investigative journalist.

3 months and 24 news stories later, I decided to move into opinion writing. To tell the stories I desired to tell.

2 years and 52 poems, articles, flash fiction, news analysis, features —across diverse publications —later, I stopped writing on Medium. From the mental fatigue, to the Stripe payment accessibility for Nigerians, to series of depression, to a general falling out of love and hope for writing. I just stopped. I am able to admit that I gave up.

I always assumed that when I was done grieving all that I was going through and becoming, when things got better again, I would return and share some of what made you stay. However, 2 years and 6 months since my last post here, things in my life and writing have only changed further.

Waiting for a moment of perfect peace to create, or to do anything is a sure way to stop your progress permanently.

That leads me to give two types of news. The bad news is that this is going to be my last post on Medium forever.

The good news is that I have reinvented myself as a writer and now have my own blog and Instagram page where I write and will continue to write.

I will be blogging weekly on my website so please subscribe there so as not to miss any of it. Thanks to God, I have come into a new season where my creativity is catharsis for hurting, healing, learning and growing (mentally and spiritually) people. It is my wish that my new blog will bring healing, life and peace to you.

Thank you for reading this. Thank you for staying me with me on this journey and platform for years. I hope and delight in seeing you on the other side, the side of freedom, the side of equilibrium.

Love,
